I don't teach repair procedures like that, sorry. That's what manuals are for. If the material I found for you to use is not sufficient, you should plan on calling in someonone familiar with your appliance. Not everything is meant to be fixed by the unexperienced.

                                      I took everything apart down to the chopper assembly, cleaned out some minimal debris there and put it back together. It's still noisy. Now I'm stuck again, because I don't see how to replace what Kenmore calls the "sump with seal" assembly, shown in the photo here .

How do I remove this assembly? I don't want to damage the seal, and I don't know what's holding it into the tub.

                                      Hi Bob;

I don't teach the actual repairs much, but I will offer you a look at one of the Whirlpool Dishwasher manuals and the handy Tech Sheet that I have in my inventory and you can use the same guidelines that we do in the field. The most common failure is the chopper assembly and seal, which you can get thru the parts link below.

My Kenmore 665.16263402 has started making a loud noise while washing. It's quiet while filling or draining. I assume it's a problem with something caught in the chopper assembly or, more likely, worn-out or rusted motor bearings. The dishwasher is just four months older than its two-year warranty period. Nice!

Anyway, I started by taking out the lower wash arm, but now I'm stuck with the exact problem a guy posted in another site three years ago.

"I got the lower spray arm off. And removed the three screws holding the next bit in place. Now I can't make anything move. Looks like the next step would be to remove the "internal rear-feed cap," as the parts list calls it. Also, the thing underneath it with the screen [accumulator assembly]. It looks like it ought to rotate and slide out, but I can't make it budge. ...

"I removed 3 torx screws in the screen over the accumulator. But there's a 4th screw I can't get to because it's underneath what the Sears parts list describes as the internal rear-feed cap. But that part--the round part that fits over the lower sprayarm hub--is held in place by the plastic frame around the acumulator screen--the part that's held in place by the screw. So I can't get to the screw without removing the "internal rear-feed cap" and I can't remove that without removing the 4th screw."

I couldn't have explained it better. What should I do now?
