Parts are not available for this model any longer. Time to upgrade. This time, try a Whirlpool product instead of the Electrolux machine you have here (Gibson is a Frigidaire tradename). If they were, I'd be recommending a new motor for you...but since none are available...oh well.

I did make a hash of the model no. It should have been DE27S6DUFA. On the outside of the door there is a label that identifies it as DE27S6-V. This time I had a younger pair of eyes write it down.

Sorry for the extra work.

I have an old but effective (once it actually starts) Gibson dryer- DE27S5DVFA. When I push the start button the drum starts turning but it won't stay on. After about 12 seconds of holding the button down there is a click and the machine stops. After resting about three minutes it will start right up and stay on when I push the button again. I can run a second load without a problem so long as the machine is warm.

I am afraid that the next time I have a pile of clothes ready for the dryer it just won't start at all. What is going on here?
