You have to finish taking the dryer apart to expose the rollers and remove the belt. The drum has to come out. As the pictures above clearly show, this is no big deal. Pay attention to the belt routing so you can put it back together. Please note that I have posted a free copy of the service manual for this dryer on the forum called Online Repair Manuals, and is the same as the 1994-1997 Maytag Dryer manual.

Machine is squealing when on. Checked belt and seems to be okay.How do I oil or lubricate the rollers?

This pertains to all Maytag gas and electric dryers made in 1995 or before.The LDE models do not have a pop-open top. You must remove the front panel first by taking out 2 screws near the bottom.

Then, remove the front panel:

With the front panel removed, the next step is to remove the drum cover itself. If you want to replace the belt, blower, or motor, this is the next move:

One further tip regarding the LDE series....the new belt must go on with the flat side to the drum, not the ribbed side as on other dryers.
