I can't seem to unlock the control panel. I've pressed on the 'Heated Dry' for 3, 5, 10, & 30 seconds to no avail. I shut the power down for up to 10 minutes hoping for a reset--still no luck.
The dishwasher beeps [once] when I close the door, lights go off, and then death.
I assume that the power is OK because when I open the door, the 'Normal & Heated Dry' indicators are lit.
Thanks, in advance for helping solve this mystery. |

There is a mini manual located behind the lower or center panel to guide you thru the diagnostic process. Saves me a page of typing
I would start by checking the door switches first, as they fail most. Next would be a control board failure if the keypad and door switches test OK. The mini manual is very explicit and the directions are easy for you to follow.

Thanks a lot but there is no mini manual--might you have a link to one [I've searched endlessly online to no avail]?
I have the user manual and instruction guide but they are useless.
Is checking the door switches just a simple continuity test? I wouldn't be able to check the other things without further instruction though.
BTW if it isn't the door switch it should still be covered [except labor] by the warranty--am I right?
Again, Thanks |

The mini manual is behind the door panel...it shows it on the lookup. If you suspect that you have parts under warranty, it will be spelled out in black and white on the last page of your User Guide.
Yes, checking door switches is like any other switch, the switch either closes when clicked or it does not. There will be total continuity when closed. If the unit is under 2 years old, you may still have some parts warranty left. Call 800-GECARES to arrange it. You're better off paying the labor in this case. |
