Amana dryer model # NDE8805AYW
Serial # 10380904GR
Dryer was on when power went out.
When the power returned, the dryer runs for about 1/2 minute and shuts off. The dryer is shutting off on all settings. All of the lights on the control knob flash and the unit shuts off. The dryer is heating and the drum is turning correctly, the unit will just not stay on. Is the unit overheating? What did the outage do to the dryer when the power came back on? |

As is typical with appliances using electronic controls, a power surge or severe storm can damage the delicate electronics. This situation is even more common in products such as electric dryers, ovens, etc which use 240 volts as their power source, since it cannot be protected by a simple surge protector on the wall.
The solution here is a new control board, shown below for your ordering conveinence, and all of the parts you get thru my links cal be returned if they do not solve the problem...even up to a year!

Thanks for your feedback!
Is is possible for us to install a new control panel? How difficult is it? I know the part isn't cheap.
Unfortunately, I live in the New Orleans area. |

Hey Kathy, it's not anything to be ashamed about that you live in the Big Easy...wish I did too
The washer does not need a control panel, it needs a circuit board behind the control panel. This is an easy enough task for anyone competant enough to turn a screwdriver. There are 3 screws at the top of the console which are removed, and the panel will drop down to reveal the board. You simply unplug the wiring harnesses attached to it and swap them to the new control...how easy is that? There may be a couple of screws holding the board down as well, but that's not an issue, and you can't get the wires wrong since the harness is uniquely shaped.
Good luck on this! |
