Whirlpool LA5558XT, I assume it could be the pump. What should I do first to diagnose the problem.
Thank you. |

Hi;
Since you're kinda new around here, welcome.
What works best for me is just a detailed description of what the washer will do, and I will make the assumptions from here on out
When it gets to the drain & spin portion of the cycle, does it simply sit dead?
If so, I would be suspicious of the lid switch. It must have electrical continuity for the motor to run in the drain and spin mode. To check the lid switch, all you need is your trusty OHM meter. Open the console by removeing the 2 screws at each bottom edge, then flip the control panel back and up. The lid switch comes up to the control panel at a small white wiring harness with 2-3 wires on it, attached to the main top. Unplug the small connector and use your OHM meter to read continuity between the 2 terminals on the lower block with the lid down. If no continuity is read, replace the lid switch.
If it proves to have good continuity, let us know, and we will go further if necessary. If the switch is bad, we have plenty in stock at the parts line (800) 507-4040 |

That was it, great Thanks I will call to a new switch. Your instructions were very concise and to the point. I appreciate your help and glad it was something simple. I removed the switch and used a spade to connect both wires to validate and the washer seems to be working fine. |
