I have a 21 year old 396A Payne HVAC It has been extrememly hot 105 and air conditioning is working but the blower in the furnace remains on, even when the AC is turned off. Could this be a swith, or control cirquit board? We changed the Thermostat but that was not it. Please Help, driving me crazy! Thanks!

The fan is supposed to cycle off about 30 seconds after the outside unit stops cooling. This is done to utilize every last bit of cooling from the evaporator coil as the pressures equalize. For the fan not to shut off indicates a failed control board, as the fan relay is powered by it. I'm not privy to your specific wiring diagram, but on certain models, the relay for the fan is replaceable separately. If the relay contact are merely stuck, this could be an option. Sorry I don't have a part source for you.

Also to be considered is that the unit may be registering over 110 Degrees, especially if located in the attic. The fan control is suposed to respond to a heat rise of 115-120 degrees and turn on the fan. Ventilating the attic will reduce the chance of causing this issue.
