I have a Whirpool fridge Model number GT22DMXGW01. Freezer on top with its own door. It is 10 years old and the door is not fully closing. I see a small gap between the door's gasket and the fridge just above the handle area.
I could get a better seal if I lift the door and push it in hard.
I am not sure if it is a misalignment problem or a gasket problem or both. Also I am not sure if changing the gasket/seal (which is not cheap and around $ 129) is for a DIY type of a guy. I did not see any screws under the seal. It seems as if the gasket is tucket under something in the door of the fridge.
Then maybe it is time for a new fridge and if so I wouldn't mind using this one ( if I could fix it ) as a second fridge.
Any advice is appreciated...
Thanks
Georges

Sounds like a simple misalignment issue from here. As you will see from the diagram link below, both doors rest on a simple hinge. The hinges are mounted using 2 screws to the front of the cabinet. The doors sit on plastic washers, or bushings, which help them open and close smoothly and provide the necessary clearance for the door to close well.
Usually, I can loosen the 2 screws at the top of the door a couple of turns, then loosen the bottom ones under the lower hinge a turn or two and the door willl move slightly left or right. Sometimes it will realign perfectly, other times, the washer under the door is worn out or in a worst case, the lower hinge may have become bent. Either fix is a very cheap alternative to a new refrigerator. Have a look at your box on the link below and order whatever parts you find that you need after trying to adjust the door as I described. The hinge and the washer that goes on it are clearly visible and identifiable.
