July 13, 2010
The new Bravos laundry pair, from Whirlpool's Maytag brand, includes a top-load washing machine that is Energy Star qualified and meets Consortium for Energy Efficiency (CEE) Tier III energy specifications.
A recent Whirlpool survey, conducted by Harris Interactive, showed almost two-thirds of U.S. consumers still prefer the look and function of top load washers. This preference was a major driver in the development of the first Bravos washer, designed to offer the high energy efficiency levels of a front-load, horizontal-axis washing machine in a top-load design. Whirlpool estimates the Bravos pair of appliances can provide an additional consumer savings of $2000 on their electric bill over 10 years.
The units use sensor-based cycle control as part of their energy saving functionality. A sensor and control system on the washer regulates the amount of water used to fill the was drum, based on load size and fabric type. The newest Bravos models become available at retail in July 2010.
