This is an easy fix if I get figure out how to lift the top (the top appears to be hinged).
All that happened is that the screws backed out on one of the agitator bars. I can rotate the drum to the top and tighten up the screws.
Model MDE6800AYW... a Neptune.

The part that came loose is called a DRUM BAFFLE
Washing machines have agitators, dryers have baffles
