Two of my four burners will not self ignite. They can be lit manually. The two burners that do not work are the small ones (front left and rear right; so one has the simmer feature). The burners did not stop working at the same time (but within a few months).
Any recommendations on parts would be appreciated. Also how do I remove the maintop? Do I start by unscrewing the venturi?
thanks so much

When you turn on the valve to the burners, is there a spark present at the electrode? If the 2 front burners do not display a spark, this leaves only 2 possibilities ....either the spark module itself has gone south (usual), or the ceramic electrode has a physical crack in it which allows the spark to divert to ground instead of projecting itself thru the burner flame as it should. Since I am not there to inspect this perhaps you would check this out yourself and report back. Also, I don't normallly provide repair instructions, especially on foreign products. You do not have the complete model number either, so I can't look up the unit or its parts yet.
Your suggestion about removing the "venturi" is on track, however, I suspect the whole burner bases must be removed from all burners for the top to come up.
Certain service manuals for these can be had, but you would be expected to pay a suitable donation for my time and efforts to find you one. _________________ FAST-MOVING PARTS | Ask the Repairman |

Thanks so much for the quick reply.
1. Here is the complete model #... RDSS30RS
2. Inspected the two ceramic sections. No visible cracks. They look to be in good condition.
3. When the knob is turned no sparks for either of the small burners (front left and rear right). But can smell the gas.
I think I can figure out how to remove the top base.
Thanks so much for your help.

PS If I am able to fix this myself, I will save enough money to buy a few years supply of Viagra. So, my wife thanks you too. |

I did manage to find the parts breakdown on these units and am forwarding it to you via email. It shows blowups of the unit so you can see the various components, plus it lists part numbers for easier ordering. Good luck, and I hope thye Viagra plan pans out as well _________________ FAST-MOVING PARTS | Ask the Repairman |

VR,
Thanks so much. So based on your replies. Your best guess is the spark module. Looks like part #486771. I will let you know how the install goes.

VR,
Got the spark module in earlier this week. Put it in last night. Had to remove the border around the face plate plus the venturi to remove the top base. Works like a charm. Got kind of screwed on the Viagra plan. The wife now expects me to replace the LED face, just because a few of them are dimmer than the others. That looks like a much more expensive and challenging repair. I think I'm going punt and order the meds anyway. She can figure it out later.
thanks so much for the help

PS I also replaced the gaskets for the burner bases. They were shot. |
