I did not use my upright Kenmore " quiet Comfort -=- Whole House Humidifier-- 7 gallons output" all last year, but decided to start it last month. So, I cleaned everything, and put water back in it. It has a relatively new filter, proper model, purchased from Sears. Even though the lights are on, indicating that it is getting electricity, the motor would not start .
Any suggestions as to how to get it to start. It is model: 758.144071 -- and I found my operating manual, which noted I purchased it in Jan. 2002. So it's been used quite a while, but I'd rather get it repaired to work correctly again, rather than buy a new one-- and contribute to the Waste piles of this planet.

Any suggestions -- I guess it must be in the motor, and / or coils, which I've not opened up (I'm not a mechanic at all!).

So suggestions as to what I could have a handy person try to fix it, as well as where to take it, and if the expense would be worth it?
Thanks a lot.
KH

A humidifier is basically just a fancy water heater, complete with element, thermostats and inline non-replaceable fuse.

I firmly believe that since this is a Sears product, you should be dealing with them instead. They sold it to you and they have a repair department that can come appraise the unit. With the limited knowledge you posess about the equipment, it would be safer for you and your house if you did not mess with it.
