Have a relatively new( 5-6 yeaes) Amana washer LWA 80 AW Ser.# R 981002433, that make a clanking nosie just before the spin cycle. I have replaced the transmission drive pulley and that didn't stop the nosie.
Transmission is fine, no oil leaks. HELP |

Your washer was built in early 1998.
Amana washers are typically noisy machines. By the way, I am a factory technician for Amana & Maytag products, so I speak from 31 years experience. Unfortunately, noise problems are the one thing that I cannot help you with, since I cannot be there to hear the noise myself. Just like you trying to describe a car noise to your mechanic over the phone.
I can think of all kinds of things it might be, foremost the transmission. You'd have to possess special tools to replace this, even to remove the tub and seal assembly, so this type of repair is likely out of your realm of expertise. Even if it were a mere hub and seal kit, there are special tools required to perform the repair. My suggestion is to have a local servicer come give you an estimate only after he has listened to the machine himself and can pinpoint the source. |
