I was given a GE spacemaker over the range micro. made in 91
the surface lights were blown so I replaced them.. they will not shut off or change to bright lights. when i pulled the old ones out, they were very discolored, almost silvery black looking. maybe something shorted?
please advise what part i will need and if its worth repairing.. Thank You

The light circuit is controlled by the same board which does everything else, and yours is bad. I certainly feel that $120 is OK to spend unless you just want a new microwave. The board for your model is shown below and you may click to order:
