| As long as I am going to have them replace the compressor on my 596.58695890 (your earlier advice), I thought I might try to get my freezer/water dispenser working again. In the past it quit working and after replacing it once and then having it go out again, they said that the water line is so far to the sink that it goes out from having to draw the water so far. My water line comes out of the undersink filter system (the same one for the small spigot water dispenser on the sink). I think it is probably because there is such little pressure coming out of the undersink filter sysytem, and then it goes through another filter in the refrigerator which seems unnecessary. I looked at the parts diagram and it says that the original bypass cartridge had been removed to install the water filter system. I was thinking that if the bypass was put back in, then I might have enough pressure to have the water go straight to the freezer/water dispenser. Or should I reroute the water line not going through the undersink filter system, but directly to the fridge with higher water pressure? Your thoughts, please. |

Never hook up an icemaker or dispenser to an R.O. system. The pressure is too greatly reduced to properl;y operate the water valves on the fridgw. Use only the inline filter on the fridge if you must filter the water & change it religiously every 6 months.
Also, be sure the line coming from the sink is supplied by a full-sized shut-off valve, not a saddle valve. Saddle valves cannot provide sustained pressure as required by the valve (25 psi minimum). Most dispenser failure results from too cold of a temperature in the Fresh food section which causes the water reservoir to freeze.
By the way, the length of the line has nothing to do with nothing. Pressure is pressure. |
