First off.. Thank you in advance! I attempted a search but there were a ton of hits to search trough.

Problem is the agitator comes loose durring the spin cycle on anything more than an extra small load. I can pop it in and out of place quite easily. It also is a little noisey when in agitate mode...cha chunk cha chunk cha chunk.

Today the thing came loose again and this time it busted up the fabric softener cup assy.

My question is, how do I know if it's the agitator itself that is worn or the hub? Is this a case where you just always replace both or is it based upon inspection?

This is an easy and cheap fix! The agitator attaches to a plastic coupling, which is worn out. The kit below is going to make it like new again! Simply remove the single bolt holding the old hub down and pry or tap it upward off the shaft (very tight!). The new one taps down onto the agitator splines until seated and comes with a new bolt. The agitator will now press firmly into place and stay there.
Try to avoid overloading the machine to prevent this from recurring too soon. The hub is there to protect the transmission shaft and drive system from heavy loading.
