I just remodeled the kitchen, moved the oven/range back in, plug it in and I get an F20 error. Nothing will work but the clock. I can use the controls and they seem to think that the oven turns on, but it doesn't get hot. Also, the burners won't turn on unless the oven is on (they don't actually turn on either, but the display will say they are on).

This is a Kenmore model 790.9912 3405 and is 18 months old. I've tried resetting the breaker, unplugging and replugging, I even took off the back panel and blew out dust with my compressor, hoping that would help. Is this f20 error something I can fix?

Noteworthy - I did use the oven self-cleaning feature about 2-3 weeks ago. After reading the horror that can wreak upon the electronics that'll be the last time!

Why not hop on over to the Frigidaire Oven diagnostic manual. Since your Kenmore is made by them, it might be the best spot to look!

Think you might have got the electrical screwed up during your remodel? Sounds whacky to me Smile

Better recheck those hookups behind the range, as the wrong wiring will cause these symptoms.

Thanks for the diagnostic - I'll check the F20 suggestions. I'll also recheck the wiring and see if something has come loose. All the wiring is the same as was before the remodel, so unless something weird happened that shouldn't be a problem. But if it is it's an easy fix!

Solution: What irony! Just when I finished remodeling the kitchen the oven plug quit on me! I cleaned up the terminals and oialah! Problem fixed!

FYI: for F20 error Frigidaire calls it a "Communication failure between EOC and ESEC system. Recommended action: Test harness/connections P4 (EOC) & P11 (Surface Element Control Board). If harness checks OK, failure can be caused by faulty UIB, surface element control board, or EOC."

The F-20 code may be related to having used the S/C cycle earlier. As it states in the manual, it is a communication loss between the User Interface board (control pad) and the main ECU board. Usually this translates into the plastic ribbon or cable harness which connects the boards. I'd take them loose and apply contact cleaner spray to the ribbon surfaces and board connectors to assure a good connection.

I've always been a strong advocate of NOT using the self clean feature due to all the collateral damage it causes to the electronics after awhile.
