I have a Kenmore Series 80 dryer that wont start. I have jumped the starter button terminals and all I hear is the timer ticking. The door switch appears to be operational as the interior light continues to go off and on accordingly. There is no debris in the motor or in the line out. I cannot find my Mfr. # in your archives so I have included all necessary info. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Kenmore Series 80
Type: 180-00
Serial# MH2016698
Model# 66812694 (way of to the side) 66812

I think I have covered all the items on the main page. How can I tell if the thermal fuse, or thermostats are blown? I also cannot find the belt switch that you mentioned either.

On back of the dryer is a white thermal fuse. You can temporarily bypass these 2 wires together to see if it will run. I carry the fuses on the parts link.

Forget about the thermostats at this point. You need to own a volt/ohm meter to test this stuff.

I will do as you suggest, but I do own a volt/ohm meter as well.

Thanks

If you have a meter, set it to read resistance and look for continuity in the fuse, thermostat or any other component. It's how we do it in the field quickly and without having to deal with live voltage orbypassing wires.
