I have a Maytag Neptune that is 6 years old. It started thru a wash cycle OK but then started dumping water out the door and flooded the house. The machine would not turn off so we unplugged it.
Now when you turn it on it appears to start OK but it just conitues to fill and overflow. I check the pressure switch per the trouble shootng instructions and it appears to be working properly. It seems like the water will not shutoff.

Lately, I have seen this problem to be a shorted machine control board. If this only occurs when the unit is started, not unpluged, then you can rule out the water valve.
Unplug the machine and open the control panel. Remove the two 5/16" nuts from the machine control and slide it to the left to remove. Flip the control over and look at the electronic ribbon on back, particularly down near the lower edge. If there is any sign of a scorch mark on the board, replace it. |
