- Keep the interior clean. Vapor can transfer grease and
residues to the cavity, causing rust and
corrosion of the interior.
Be especially watchful of the area under the
turntable. This pocket tends to collect grease and particles, and can be a
major source of trouble!
- Never cook popcorn directly on the bottom. These little bags have foil strips on the inside which will
instantly discolor the bottom and warp the turntable. Instead, place popcorn on an inverted plate or bowl.
- Always cover every item you microwave. Food gives off steam
during the cooking cycle, and this vapor will permeate the inner cavity and
control panel, causing various failures along the way. Use a paper towel over
the food as a precaution.
- The metal racks which come with some models are a convenience only, and should not be left in the unit if cooking on the turntable.
Frankly, the rack is only useful if cooking casserole-sized platters, and is not
likely to be needed in most cases. I recommend storing this rack on the B-B-Que
pit, or someplace else that needs a rack. Regardless of what the manufacturers
say about metal in a microwave, I maintain that it causes problems.
