Clutch Replacement on Direct-Drive Washers Covers Whirlpool, Kenmore, KitchenAid, Roper and Estate brands.
Tools Needed: Phillips Screwdriver Socket Wrench Set Pliers
How to Begin: Step 1- Remove the agitator assembly. Pry off cap Remove barrier with pliers 7/16” socket to remove stud
Lift the entire agitator out from the base once the center bolt is removed.
Step 2- Unplug the machine and remove the cabinet according to the instructions below:
Step 3- Remove the pump and motor.
Step 4- Lay the entire washer back enough against the wall or on its back to remove the 3 bolts holding the transmission to the tub support. The transmission will slide out and can be set on the floor to replace the clutch assembly.
Follow the easy instructions in the clutch kit package and re-assemble the washer in reverse order.
